Episcopal Church Women at Saint Paul's

ECW Update
Our last ECW salad supper meeting for the year was held at Betty Anne Kyle’s house on Tues., May 9th. As usual for the first and last meetings, it was mainly social. We had a great time and missed those who were unable to attend. After a short meeting to discuss next year’s ECW meetings, we decided to change our format. We plan to focus more on spiritual growth and have agreed to read, as a group, the book by John Claypool, Stories Jesus Still Tells – The Parables. We will read a chapter before each meeting and come to the meeting ready to discuss it. This should be a great way to learn from each other, bond as a group, and attract new members. We will also have one or two outreach projects for the year.
If you are interested in joining the ECW, please come to the first meeting of the year. We are going to be meeting the second Tues. of each month so our first meeting (everyone brings some type of salad to share) will be on Sept. 12th - 6:00 PM at Irma Mottley’s house.
If you plan to attend our meetings for the 2006-07 year, you will need a copy of John Claypool’s book. It can be ordered from Amazon.com for $9.97 and I will be ordering several copies before September (no shipping on orders $25 or more). If you’d like for me to order you a copy, please let me know. Beth Harris - 923-9334.
The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of St. Paul's is part of the national ECW organization developed in 1890 to "assist women of the Episcopal Church to carry on Christ's work of reconciliation, mission and ministry in the community, the nation and the world; and to take their place in life, governance and the worship of the church."
All women of St. Paul’s are invited to participate in the ECW. ECW offers the women of St. Paul’s opportunities to grow spiritually and to reach out to others. We support Boy’s Home in Covington and Jackson-Field Home in Jarrett with financial donations. We reach out to Newcomers by distributing Welcome Baskets. And we support the residents of Magnolia Gardens by organizing a Christmas party. ECW meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May. Both the September and May meetings are salad suppers with everyone bringing a salad to share. Meetings generally have a devotional as well as a program, which may be a bible study, an activity to aid in spiritual growth, planning outreach, etc. We welcome new ideas and new faces.
