Saint Paul's Vestry
Serving on an Episcopal Church vestry is a unique and special ministry. The vestry is described by the Episcopal Church Foundation as “the body within the congregation that, with the clergy, leads the parish.” Among vestry members’ duties are, with the rector: to identify goals, to engage in short and long range planning, to ensure adequate resources and effective stewardship, to establish and monitor programs and services, and to communicate with the parish and the wider community. The vestry at St. Paul’s is made up of twelve members, elected for 3-year terms. Each year, at the annual meeting in January, four vestry members “rotate” off and four new members are elected. Serving on the vestry at St. Paul’s provides an opportunity to support God’s work in our parish by providing direction, contributing leadership, and sharing valuable knowledge and experience. As with the many other ministries, serving on the vestry utilizes the skills of “servant leaders” to enable St. Paul’s to thrive in its work to, in the words of the Book of Common Prayer, “restore people to unity with God and each other in Christ.”
